Winter Is Back at Roosterville

Groundhog's Day at Roosterville
It’s Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day 2015

We’ve certainly enjoyed some nice weather in January.  But February is here and winter is back!  Yesterday was snowy, windy and cold.  Last night, the temperature dropped to 1 degree Fahrenheit.  Even with some bright sunshine, it’s cold out there.  And, of course, the groundhog saw his shadow, so we’re facing 6 more weeks of winter (we were facing that anyway, but that’s another story).

One of my favorite movies is Groundhog Day, with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.  This cute story, from 1993 deals with a weatherman who finds himself living the same day over and over again  It’s a sweet and funny romp with a lot of chuckles, and the ultimate message that we can redeem ourselves, become a better person, and there is reward in doing so.  Those are the kind of themes I like in a movie.  How about you?

So here we are at Groundhog’s Day 2015, and redemption and getting better are high on my list.  Having dodged a bullet recently, I certainly feel a lot of joy right now that I may not have on Groundhog’s Days past.  Though there’s a lot of challenge ahead, and a long road to travel, I am hopeful.

Thank you God for the opportunity to go on.  And thank you Bill for the example showing that tenacity can win out.

Happy Groundhog Day!
